BOARD of DIRECTORS
PRISCILLA C. HORST (Chairman)
Born and raised in Rhode Island, Priscilla Horst graduated with a double major in Speech Therapy and Social Work from Elmira College and earned a master's degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Case Western Reserve University. She was employed as a speech therapist in both public and private schools in Ohio and Rhode Island. While in the employ of the Chagrin Falls Schools in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, she developed and implemented a speech therapy program at Saint Joan of Arc School.
After the birth of her children she chose to be active in the community on a volunteer basis. She has served on various boards and committees of the Junior Committee of the Cleveland Orchestra, the Shaker Heights Parent Teacher Association, the Senior Adult Office of the City of Shaker Heights, the Shaker Lakes Regional Nature Center and the Women's Committee of the Cleveland Institute of Music.
While she has no formal music training, music has been a lifelong interest. In her youth she sang in her church, high school and college choirs. She also played the hand bells for many years. She is an active "Friend" of Lyric Opera Cleveland, and since 1998, together with her family, has served as "second family" to a very talented Indonesian piano student.
Priscilla's interests include tennis, bicycling, gardening, music, travel and, most of all, family. She is married to J. Robert Horst who was Vice President and General Counsel of Eaton Corporation until he retired in 2005. They have two daughters, Sarah who has her own jewelry business in Rhode Island, and Rebecca who is a practicing lawyer in Cleveland, Ohio.
BARBARA H. GORDON
Barbara Gordon grew up in central Indiana and graduated from the School of Business at Indiana University. Organizational skills have served Barbara well; she has been able to manage her family of five (husband and three daughters) while serving as a community volunteer. Barbara's volunteer service and professional efforts focused on schools, Girl Scouts and church when her daughters were young. She also served as a deacon for Fairmount Presbyterian Church.
Barbara served Phi Mu Sorority in many capacities, including being a delegate to Cleveland Panhellenic Association for 10 ½ years. She progressed through the chairs as treasurer, secretary and president.
Art has always been a strong interest for Barbara and in 1986 she was asked to join the board of trustees of Young Audiences where she served three terms (9 years). Barbara served two years as chairman of the board of trustees and also one year concurrently as interim executive director.
Museums have also been important to Barbara. She has worked 5 ½ years at the Cleveland Children's Museum. Since 1991 she continues to volunteer in the shop at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.
