Last year, through the enthusiastic generosity of those who donated to the Music Fund's "Off to the Opera" fundraiser, the Music Fund was able to raise $7,500 for vocal scholarships. The Music Fund is permitted to offer up to three scholarships a year (in amounts up to $2,500 each) which can be used for music lessons, tuition payments or participation fees at the conservatory level. These scholarships are available to Irish born citizens in need of financial assistance, who demonstrate musical abilities, and who are committed to pursuing vocal studies.

This year, the Music Fund would like to have an "Encore!" of last year's fundraising performance, and invites you to help us raise an additional $5,000 for scholarships. The campaign will begin on November 19 and conclude on December 31, 2004.
Please make checks payable to: ANTHONY KEARNS MUSIC FUND and indicate that your donation is for "Encore!". Vote for your favorite of our two teams, and let us know if you prefer not to participate in the drawing.
Donations should be sent to:

In closing, the Music Fund would like to wish each and every one of you all the joys and blessings of this holiday season. And to your and yours, a New Year that is filled with many glad tidings, especially good health, love and world peace!
Additionally, by participating in the "Encore!" fundraiser, you have the opportunity to give one last cheer for a favorite baseball team - and possibly take home a Boston Red Sox jersey autographed by Anthony Kearns! The 2004 American League Championship Series seemed to turn everyone into either a New York Yankees fan or a Boston Red Sox fan. While the Series has ended, you can still cheer on the Yankees or the Red Sox by voting in our fundraiser!
When making a donation to the "Encore!" fundraiser, make sure to cast a vote for your favorite team - either the New York Yankees or the Boston Red Sox. At the conclusion of the drive (i.e. after the last mail delivery on December 31) we will tally the votes, and declare the team which receives the most votes the winner of OUR Championship Series. We will then take all the names of those who voted for the winning team, and conduct a drawing for a very special prize - a Boston Red Sox jersey, autographed by Anthony Kearns, which he received after singing the National Anthem at a Red Sox game in Fenway Park last July. The winner will be notified that very day, December 31.
You may cast one vote for one team for each donation made. You may make multiple donations which would allow you to vote for both teams, or multiple times for a single team. Each donation must be received separately with its own team vote.
Due to IRS regulations, if you are included in the drawing, the amount of your donation that you will be able to deduct from your federal taxes for 2004 will be reduced by $149.00, the estimated value of the prize. We are therefore offering you the option to exclude yourself from the drawing in order to be able to deduct the full amount of your donation from your 2004 federal taxes. Should you wish to exclude yourself from the drawing, please include a note with your donation letting us know that you do not want to participate in the drawing. Note: you may still cast a vote even if you do not want to participate in the drawing.
