2005 Summer Experience

To whom it may concern,
I thank you most sincerely for your scholarship award. I can assure you that it has been put to great use and my experiences this summer have been invaluable.
In June of this summer I participated in the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna, Austria. From over three thousand applicants auditioned worldwide, one hundred and sixty (160) applicants took parts in the competition in Vienna. There were various quarter and semi final rounds leading to a final round with only twelve singers. I participated in all rounds including the finals. As you can imagine, at such a high international level, this was a great achievement. Many of the world’s leading Opera Artistic Directors from some of the best opera houses were there and were exceptionally complimentary towards me in relation to my career. I have been offered the possibilty of working in two European houses following the competition.
I also completed an Italian language course in Ravenna Italy. This was so beneficial to my singing, as most of my repertoire is in Italian. The course was an excellent one, based primarily on grammar and communication skills. Class participation was vital and always compulsory, including singing at the end of the course, which I obviously took part in! Also, considering the fact that I was in the country, the atmosphere, the people etc, everything augured well for my studies and I feel my Italian language skills improved immensely.
I thank you so much for these opportunities afforded me only through your help. Both ventures have been very important and of great benefit to me.

Dear Priscilla, and indeed all the Committee of the Anthony Kearns Music Scholarship Fund,
I am thrilled, and very honoured to accept this scholarship award. Thank you all so much. I can assure you it is a very necessary, and valued award for me, and I will put it to great use.
I thank you all for your generosity, and for supporting the arts in this way. As you can imagine, it is a very important source for young singers and I thank you for considering me the most worthy applicant. I have achieved a lot so far, but plan to go on to gain more success in the future, and I am so grateful to The Anthony Kearns Music Scholarship fund for helping me in this endeavour. I am thrilled!!
